Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay, born August 24, 1972, in Long Beach California. DuVernay discovered her love for art from her aunt Denise. The aunt who was a night shift nurse, let her explore art and literature as well as the theatre in daylight. DuVernay was a fan of the movie West Side Story, which she introduced to her. DuVernay began producing in broadcast journalism when she was in her the college. Her first job was as an intern with CBS News during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay recalled being assigned to sit at the house of one member of the jury and go through their garbage. The work she was assigned to did not leave her satisfied by journalism and she decided to move towards the field of publicity. DuVernay began working in a small studio as a Junior Publicist immediately after graduation. She was hired in 1999 and founded her own firm of public relations dubbed The DuVernay Agency. Apart from PR, the agency developed several lifestyle websites like Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful.
